After spirited and comradely speeches in support of the four candidates for Leader, the outcome of the  subsequent vote was to eliminate Emily Thornberry first, then Rebecca Long-Bailey, with Keir Starmer winning the T&M CLP nomination by 32 votes to Lisa Nandy’s 29.

After further debate, Angela Rayner was selected as our nominee for Deputy Leader, with Dawn Butler coming a close second.

The CLP’s choice of nominees does not bind any member – each eligible voter can now use their vote for whomever they choose in the forthcoming ballot.
