Labour’s Candidate in Norton East Ward
I am a retired GP who worked in a diverse inner-city area in London for over 30 years. I came to live in Langton with my daughter and her family five years ago but have been closely associated with the village since 2002.
I have watched the Thatcher government of the 1980s, the Tory-Lib/Dem Coalition followed by the present Conservative government subject all our Public Services to numerous destructive attacks. The belief that privatisation and the profit motive can provide better and more efficient Public Services is fundamentally flawed. I believe that the market has no place in the provision of Public Services in a civilised society.
I believe that the performance of the Ryedale District Council would be markedly improved by the addition of Labour members. We are determined that any Labour Councillors will be available and accountable to their constituents and will not be influenced by anything other than the interests of the local community they serve.
